Our Story

The story of our deep, passionate love for Bozcaada’s fertile soil, unique grapes, challenging winemaking, and generous nature…

This story begins in Bozcaada in 1930, when our great-grandfather, who was engaged in animal farming and viticulture, took up winemaking as a profession. In 1950, our grandfather Ahmet Aral bought the Dimitrakopulo brand, which belonged to a Greek family from Istanbul, and expanded the viticulture and winemaking business, which would become a “family business” for generations.

Thirty years ago, Ispuri Kadani, a Greek farmer from Bozcaada, put up for sale the land where the Aral farm is located today. Our father, the beloved İlhan Aral, who was also engaged in animal farming, viticulture and winemaking on the island in those years, bought this land. Our winemaking, which was passed down from grandfather to grandson and gradually developed, continues to this day with wines such as Ayla, Doruk, Dardanel, Dimitrakopulo, each of which has become national brands, and other Aral brands.

After a while, we started to stay longer on the island because of the vineyards, we used to have picnics with our friends at this farm, which we neglected to take care of because we didn’t realize its beauty at the time, but we still loved and connected to it, and we used to accept it as a past time shelter where we would keep our memories warm when we got older… As time passed and we came to our senses, we realized that this was not a place to waste by keeping it just to ourselves…

Arzu and Ahmet Aral.
